CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A new schooling option could soon be coming to State College after a proposed new charter school says they would offer what they call “a classical education.” Mark Parfitt is the chair of the group trying to form the Nittany Mountain Classical Academy. He says that over the last six years, his group has been heavily involved with the school board races and he says he feels there is a need for other schooling options.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Sidney Crosby insists he's not a scoreboard watcher. Not publicly anyway. Maybe it's because the Pittsburgh Penguins' longtime captain is too occupied with his team to worry about anyone else. CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a Spring Mills man is behind bars following an investigation into allegations that he repeatedly sexually abused a young girl over a five-year period. According to the affidavit, police were first contacted in January of 2023, by the victim's mother, after the victim reportedly disclosed that she had been repeatedly abused by 35-year-old Vladimir Slavskiy. Police say the victim told investigators that the alleged abuse began in 2017, when she was approximately 7 or 8 years old.

GREENFIELD, Iowa (AP) — Multiple people died Tuesday and at least a dozen were injured when a powerful tornado tore through a small Iowa town, carving a bleak landscape of destroyed homes and businesses, shredded trees, smashed cars, and widely strewn debris. The tornado destroyed much of Greenfield, a town of about 2,000 around 55 miles (88.5 kilometers) southwest of Des Moines, during a day that saw multiple tornadoes, giant hail and heavy rain in several states.
