Local Ham radio operators are transmitting from the Johnstown Flood National Memorial Friday night.
They were given a permit from the National Park Service and a special call sign for the event by the FCC, to talk to other Ham radio operators worldwide.
Operators will also be at the 195th anniversary of the Allegheny Portage Railroad event on June 22nd.
The recent winter weather is leaving some people searching for a place to stay warm. Officials with the Women's Help Center in Johnstown said there is a shortage of beds for those needing them, especially now with the winter weather.
Executive director at the Women’s Help Center Roxann Tyger said, “Especially with the cold weather in November we really started to see things start to spike, but we are working to help really anyone that's experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness in Cambria County.

TYRONE, Pa. (WJAC) — An early afternoon gas leak turned into a homeowner’s biggest nightmare.
Five people were injured, and one person was killed when a house exploded in Tyrone Monday.
The Blair County Coroner’s office confirmed late Monday that remains were recovered from one of the structures involved in the fire.
Officials say an autopsy has been scheduled to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.
Tyrone Councilman David Snyder posted on Facebook that he has personal connections with the victim’s family and grieves their loss.
