Bellefonte softball using team bonds to find success

BELLEFONTE -- With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, the Bellefonte High School softball team is near the top of the Mountain League standings at 11-3. The Red Raiders took home a district title in 2014 and have hopes to return to the championship game this season. Huntingdon school district hosts 'walk-a-thon' to raise money for music department

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — There is a unique problem in the Huntingdon Area School District. School officials say its music department "doesn't have enough instruments to go around" as nearly the entire fourth grade class at the Southside Elementary School signed up for band next school year. On Wednesday, the school district held a "walk-a-thon" to raise money for more instruments. Southside Elementary School Director Rick Kane says the walk started at midnight in Huntingdon Borough and continued during the day until participants made it to one-hundred-thousand steps.

Johnson wins first green jacket with record performance

AUGUSTA, Ga (AP) — Dustin Johnson has capped off a one-of-a-kind Masters with a performance never seen at Augusta National. Johnson shook off a slow start and blew away the field to win his first green jacket. Snakes being collected during annual rattlesnake roundup

NOXEN, Pa. (AP) -- Snake hunters have been collecting serpents for fun and prizes -- and to help out a Pennsylvania town's local fire department -- as part of the annual rattlesnake roundup. The event in Noxen in northeastern Pennsylvania's Wyoming County is the fire department's biggest fundraiser and also aims to teach attendees about snakes, which are later returned to their natural habitat. Fire chief Lew Hackling said prizes are awarded for largest snake, biggest rattle and other things.

Actor Tom Hanks 'photobombs' bridal party in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (CNN) — If someone is going to sneak into your bridal photo, this might be the guy you want! Actor Tom Hanks gave a Pennsylvania bride the ultimate surprise over the weekend. Wedding photographer Rachel Rowland says the bride was about to hop into a limo when nice guy Tom Hanks walked up and asked to take a photo with her. He posed for a few shots, congratulated everyone and then, just like Forrest Gump, he ran out of there.
