Nursing and Personal care homes reach "critical" point amid more closures

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Finding personal care for a loved one can be hard enough. That process became increasingly more difficult following the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association says more than 230 personal care homes have closed across the state since the pandemic began. M. Veil Griffith, an administrator with the Cambria County Area Agency on Aging says, "It boils down to a financial problem." The Atrium, a personal care home in Johnstown, is one of the most recent facilities to announce it's closing its doors.

Pitt QB Kedon Slovis enters transfer portal; former BC QB transfers to Pitt

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — According to multiple reports, now former University of Pittsburgh quarterback Kedon Slovis entered the NCAA transfer portal Monday and will not be returning to the Panthers next season. Slovis spent three seasons with USC prior to transferring to Pitt this past February. He threw for nearly 2,400 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season as the Panthers finished with a record of 8-4 and a trip to the Sun Bowl.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The state trooper who arrested two LGBTQ+ leaders after a contentious traffic stop in Philadelphia is no longer employed by the Pennsylvania state police, officials said Friday. Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Adam Reed said the trooper, who has not been named, no longer works for the agency, though it's unclear whether he was fired and when he left the job. A daughter of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt filed paperwork to legally remove "Pitt" from her name on the day she turned 18. Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt submitted a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court on May 27 to change her name to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, the Los Angeles Times reported. The third-eldest of the former couple's six children was born in Swakopmund, Namibia, on May 27, 2006. The siblings also include Maddox, Pax, Zahara and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Death investigation underway in Benezette Township

BENEZETTE, Pa. (WJAC) — UPDATE: Elk County Coroner Michelle A. Mucciohas has ruled the death as natural. ORIGINAL STORY: State police are conducting an investigation after a man died in Benezette Township. Authorities responded to Hicks Run Road just before 11 p.m. Saturday, where 54-year-old Donald Dinger, of Smicksburg, had died. According to a release, authorities believe Dinger died sometime between 7 and 10 p.m. The cause and manner of death have not been released.
