Former Centre County DA expresses remorse in bid to get her law license reinstated

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Former Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller expressed remorse Monday during a state Supreme Court hearing in a bid to get her law license reinstated. Parks Miller’s law license was suspended by the Supreme Court in March of 2019 for a year and one day. As Centre County's district attorney, she was found guilty of having exparte-illegal communications through text messages with two county judges without the knowledge of defense attorneys.

Johnstown plastic surgeon pleads guilty to Medicaid, insurance fraud

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- A Johnstown plastic surgeon pleaded guilty Friday to two felony counts of Medicaid and insurance fraud. Dr. Daniel R. Nevarre was sentenced to six to 23 months of house arrest, followed by three years of probation. “When people commit Medicaid fraud, they’re stealing tax dollars from people who are in real need of health care services,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. Nevarre was the owner and operator of Plastic Surgical Associates of Johnstown until its sale in May 2017.

Steelers HOFer Alan Faneca to announce team's 2nd round draft pick

Pittsburgh (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that Hall of Fame offensive guard Alan Faneca will be taking part in the team's draft festivities this year. Faneca is scheduled to announce the Steelers' second round draft pick. "It's always nice to get back in and be a part of anything NFL related, anything Steelers related," said Faneca. "It's fun to step back into that world a little bit. And I'm bringing my son, Burton, with me.

Teens ages 15 to 18 can work out for free at Planet Fitness this summer

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Starting May 15, Planet Fitness says teens ages 15 to 18 will be able to work out at any of its locations for free. It’s part of the Planet Fitness Teen Summer Challenge, in which high school teens can sign up at any Planet Fitness location and work out at that location all summer long as much as they want until Sept. 1, the company says.
