Philly police officer fired over Facebook posts reinstated

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia police department has reinstated an officer fired in 2019 over Facebook posts saying among other things that refugees should "starve to death." The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that officer Christian Fenico was reinstated with full back pay after an arbitrator in a grievance filed with the police union ruled Fenico's social media posts did not prevent him from being a valuable officer. The reinstatement and scheduled arbitration for at least five other officers, comes as the city grapples with the public perception of its officers after several violent altercations with marchers protesting police brutality and racist police practices.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. responds to being left out of presidential debate

Kennedy Jr. hasn't been invited to participate in the two campaign debates. Kennedy is considered a third-party candidate, which the Biden campaign proposed to exclude. In response, Kennedy accused Biden and Trump of working together to keep him off the stage.

State witnesses challenge defense's expert testimony

WASHINGTON (TND) — The prosecution in Alex Murdaugh's double murder trial called six witnesses to the stand Tuesday in its rebuttal of the defense's case as the trial stretched into its 26th day. The witnesses included pathologist Ellen Reimer, as well as former law partners and friends of Murdaugh, who are now poking holes in the defense's case that Murdaugh could not have murdered his wife, Maggie and son, Paul. In her testimony, Reimer unequivocally reiterated that Paul did not suffer a contact gunshot to the head, contrary to expert testimony for the defense.

14-year-old turns himself in for Southeast DC shooting that injured 16-year-old

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A 14-year-old from Southeast D.C. turned himself in Sunday for a shooting in April thatleft a 16-year-old injured, according to Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officials. Officers responded to the reported shooting in the 1500 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast on April 26 around 2:33 p.m. When they arrived, officers found a 16-year-old with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Centre County Sheriff's Department warning of phone scam

BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- The Centre County Sheriff's Department is warning of a new phone scam circulating around the area. Sheriff Bryan Sampsel says thieves are somehow 'spoofing' the department's government phone number, calling people saying there's a warrant out for their arrest. "In the last two days, we've received several calls, mostly from Penn State employees, saying the Centre County Sheriff's Department is coming to arrest them if they don't provide information to them, bank accounts, saying they need to pay the money,"
