The West End Improvement Group holds annual Basket Party

The West End Improvement Group held their annual basket party on Sunday. The event included a light lunch and several baskets for people to win. The proceeds from the event go towards the group’s many projects such as the installation of security camera, the 100+ flower boxes that they plant in the summertime, community gardens and events as well as other beautification projects. Organizers highlight that these initiatives help improve all of Johnstown and not just their neighborhood.

Volunteers needed for 2023 Thunder in the Valley, organizers say

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Organizers of the annual Thunder in the Valley Motorcycle Rally in Johnstown announced that volunteers are still needed for this year's event. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Thunder in the Valley, which will take place from June 22-25. Officials say volunteers are needed to operate the information booths, as well as to scan IDs throughout the weekend. In February, organizers announced that famous rock bands Buckcherry and Warrant would be among this year's headlining performers.

Altoona Curve prepare for 2019 season

ALTOONA — Minor league baseball teams go through player personnel turnover from year to year. The Altoona Curve are no different. But, this year's team is loaded with players, who have experience at the MILB Double-A level. The opening day roster has 15 players that spent time with the Curve during the 2018 campaign. This group will be led by third-year Curve Manager Michael Ryan. He has directed the club to two straight division titles, during his time in Altoona.

Altoona water authority & Logan Twp. reach new agreement

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — The Logan Township board of supervisors and the Altoona water authority announced on Thursday that both agencies are working on an agreement that will allow the water authority to have complete control over the township's wastewater collection. Officials say the township currently releases water to the authority treatment system through long-standing agreements. They say there will be several benefits to this change including stabilized sewer rates and better customer service.

Clearfield Co. DA says his office will not prosecute those who violate school mask mandate

CLEARFIELD CO, Pa (WJAC) — The Clearfield County District Attorney's office is joining other District Attorneys across the commonwealth in announcing that it will not prosecute those who violate the Wolf Administration's school mask mandate, which went into effect on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers released a statement Wednesday afternoon that his office will not criminally prosecute those who violate the statewide mandate. Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks and the York County District Attorney's office also announced this week that they too will not prosecute violators of the mandate.
