EBENSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — A Cambria County teacher is facing a slew of charges after police said he inappropriately touched two 15-year-old female students on a class field trip to the state Capitol in March, according to a criminal complaint.
According to court documents, 68-year-old James Luksik, a teacher at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, is facing three felonies, including sexual contact with a student, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors.
HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A federal jury on Monday said BNSF Railway contributed to the deaths of two people who were exposed to asbestos decades ago when tainted mining material was shipped through a Montana town where thousands have been sickened.
The jury awarded $4 million each in compensatory damages to the estates of the two plaintiffs, who died in 2020. Jurors said asbestos that spilled in the rail yard in the town of Libby, Montana was a substantial factor in the plaintiffs’ illnesses and death.
STATE COLLEGE -- Residents of Centre County worked together to help bring a family’s dog back home earlier this week, and now the family wants to thank the thousands of people that came together who helped them.
The Giardano family said it took a team of people and some high-tech gadgets to bring their dog back home.
However, they truly believe that it was their prayers that kept their dog, Poncho, alive after he spent weeks outside in subfreezing temperatures.
Johnstown, Pa — UPDATE:
Bob Statler, the Fire Chief with the Johnstown Fire Department tells 6 News the initial report of the fire at Johnstown's Pleasant Hill Baptist Church located on the 200 block of Peelor Street came in at about a quarter to 7 A.M. Tuesday.
Statler says when crews responded to the scene, they arrived with fire venting from the basement of the church with fire and heavy smoke located in the main part of the chapel.
2nd UPDATE:CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police in Cambria County are providing new details about what led to Sunday's "emergency situation" at a residence in Portage.
Investigators say troopers were called to the home, located along Dulancey Drive, around 11 a.m. for a report of a shooting.
Police say the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Cody Anderson, had reportedly barricaded himself inside the home following an altercation with the juvenile victim.
