SWANNANOA, N.C. (WLOS) — A North Carolina woman says she's been dealing with a black bear that's become a big nuisance after the bear damaged her property and even made its way into her pickup truck.
The views in Swannanoa's Bee Tree community are breathtaking but in the "heart of bear country," Pamela Fountain is battling a black bear that’s taking her breath away.
“This is getting bad because it’s starting to damage my property,” said Fountain.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Blair County say a Williamsburg man is behind bars and faces dozens of felonies related to the repeated thefts of various items and equipment from multiple area construction companies/sites.
Troopers say 46-year-old Wayne Baker is now being housed at the Blair County Prison following a months-long investigation into various thefts from sites in both Blair and Cambria counties.
Authorities say during the investigation, one witness told police that he had knowledge of approximately $500,000 worth of items, equipment and vehicles that Baker had stolen over the past few years, including a dump truck.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Another U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone went down in Yemen, images purported to show Wednesday, as Yemen's Houthi rebels continued attacks on shipping around the Red Sea over the Israel-Hamas war.
The Houthis released footage they said showed the aircraft being targeted with a surface-to-air missile in a desert region of Yemen's central Marib province. It marked the third-such downing this month alone.
Images analyzed by The Associated Press showed the MQ-9 on its belly in the barren desert, its tail assembly disconnected from the rest of its body.
Westmoreland County, PA — Authorities in Westmoreland County say a Penn Township man has pleaded guilty to murder in the deaths of his father and aunt.
Investigators say Neal Hubish, 43, was accused of fatally stabbing his father, Arthur, and his aunt, Maria Puskarich, in November of 2021.
On Tuesday, officials say Hubish appeared in court where he pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder and simple assault.
Authorities say he will serve an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole, as well as an additional 1 to 2 years on the assault charge.
JOHNSTOWN, PA (WJAC) - Tuesday held the first round of the PIAA playoffs for both high school soccer and volleyball. The Bedford boys defeated Beaver Area 5-0 to advance in Class 2A. Sophomore Dominic Albus said the Bison's offense "came in like a freight train" in the second half after Bedford extended there one-nil lead to five-nil.
