STATE COLLEGE -- Residents of Centre County worked together to help bring a family’s dog back home earlier this week, and now the family wants to thank the thousands of people that came together who helped them.
The Giardano family said it took a team of people and some high-tech gadgets to bring their dog back home.
However, they truly believe that it was their prayers that kept their dog, Poncho, alive after he spent weeks outside in subfreezing temperatures.
The family said Poncho escaped three weeks ago.
They quickly asked for help and spread the word about the missing pooch on pet recovery websites.
Heather Giardino said she checked the websites every day, just hoping someone had found Poncho.
Joe Giardino said at least 30 cars and about 60 people were outside at one point, searching for Poncho with flashlights and spotlights.
People across the community brought in motion sensors, trail cameras, and even drones to help the family find Poncho.
In the end, Poncho was finally reunited with the Giardino family.
