CAMERON COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Cameron County remains one of only five counties under the low cases category with a just 2.1 percent positivity rate for COVID-19.
Even so, Cameron County School District Superintendent Dr. Keith Wolfe says the district is not becoming complacent with preventing the spread of the virus.
Since the virus situation started, the school district has only had a small amount of "close contact" quarantines and no positive virus cases.
The superintendent released a letter last week to the district's students and families concerning this.
Everyone throughout the district is adhering to the guidelines and the district will continue to enforce them.
Since the virus situation started, the district has been doing daily health screenings and temperature checks that will continue.
"I think it's going very well,” Wolfe said. “Kids are resilient. Kids are understanding, and kids are flexible. A lot of times more so than adults. For them, um, you know, it's not something any of us want to do, but we are enforcing it very strictly."
As far as winter athletics go, the district is moving forward with basketball and wrestling as normal, until when and if things change or different orders come from the governor's office.
